In a powerful display of community spirit, members of Cooly Surf Club have come together to support one of our youngest and bravest Surf Live Saving members during an incredibly challenging time, raising $22,000 in support.
Supporting Our Own: Miley’s Journey
Miley Zimmerle, a dedicated 13-year-old Nipper who recently completed her Surf Rescue Certificate (SRC) and began her lifesaving patrols, was diagnosed with T-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (T-ALL) in December. Just days after her diagnosis, Miley began intensive chemotherapy, embarking on what will be a challenging two-year treatment journey, including frequent hospital stays in Brisbane.
The daughter of club volunteers Brendan and Shannon Zimmerle, Miley exemplifies the courage and resilience that defines our lifesaving community. Now, it’s our turn to be there for her and her family as they navigate these difficult waters.
Fundraising Success
The response from our members and guests has been nothing short of extraordinary. Throughout February and March, profits raised from our Wednesday Community Raffles were donated to support Miley’s family. We reached an impressive total of $22,000!
Community Support
The journey ahead remains long for Miley and her family, with ongoing treatment costs and regular trips to Brisbane for medical care. The support shown by our community during this challenging time has been truly remarkable. Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a meaningful difference in helping them manage the financial and emotional challenges of Miley’s treatment.
The response to Miley’s situation demonstrates that our commitment to care extends far beyond the beach – it’s at the very heart of who we are as a club. Thank you to everyone who contributed and showed their support throughout this fundraising campaign.
Let’s keep showing Miley and her family the strength, love, and unwavering support of our Cooly community. 🌊💛❤️
